Job Summary

This is a relief Veterinary Technician II position in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Colorado State University.

We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Technician II to join our team. The successful candidate will provide relief nursing to cover annual, sick, holiday, afterhours, and weekends to various departments during critical peak times.

As a relief Veterinary Technician II, you will assist in the instruction of PVM students, interns, residents, faculty, and staff performing diagnostic procedures, therapeutic treatments, client communication, service coordination, and overseeing client-student interactions.

This is an essential worker position and must be willing and able to report to work as directed to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay or interruption.

Responsibilities
  • Provide relief nursing to cover annual, sick, holiday, afterhours, and weekends to various departments during critical peak times.
  • Assist in the instruction of PVM students, interns, residents, faculty, and staff performing diagnostic procedures, therapeutic treatments, client communication, service coordination, and overseeing client-student interactions.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate adaptability and flexibility.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, students, and staff to ensure excellent patient care and customer service.
Requirements
  • An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in veterinary/animal health technology.
  • Two years of experience assisting in animal surgery, administering anesthesia to animals and/or performing veterinary surgery.
  • Registered as a Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Provisional Veterinary Technician (PVT) through the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) by the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in IV catheter placement, venipuncture, cystocentesis, teaching, computer skills, scheduling appointments and answering questions.
