Job Description

The IT Solutions Architect will work on multiple IT projects as a member of a project team and be responsible for the overall direction, guidance, and definition of an architecture program that effectively supports the company's business strategy. They will assist in facilitating the development of the future-state architecture, ensuring its effective adoption. Further, the IT Solutions Architect will interface across all business areas, acting as visionaries to proactively assist in defining the direction for future projects. They will also conceive strategies, solutions, build consensus, and sell/execute solutions and be involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design, and implementation.

The IT Solutions Architect ensures applications and servers are built with best practices, reusability, and an understanding of how to use technology to best meet business needs. The role mirrors the company's commitment to provide support to ensure projects are designed and built to support the Enterprise Architecture.

The IT Solutions Architect demonstrates the ability to think and operate on both the strategic and tactical levels (e.g., they are able to devise a short-term solution that complements the longer-term goals).

They will serve as a Change Agent who effectively challenges the status quo and helps the team embrace improved methods and newer technologies.

They will be responsible for meeting and presenting to the Enterprise Architecture Review Council to gain approval and advice from all areas of IT to ensure sustainable services and applications are created.

Deliverables:

* Create formal Conceptual and Solution Architectures and present to senior staff, business, and the Enterprise Architecture Review Council.

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree, specialized training, or equivalent work experience.

* Requires eight (8) to fifteen (15) years of experience in multiple IT areas and five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant technology architecture experience.

* Hands-on Network Access Control (NAC) experience to coincide with required years of experience.

* Hands-on Cisco Client experience to coincide with required years of experience.

* Hands-on Cisco DNA experience to coincide with required years of experience.

Preferred:

* Well-grounded in state-of-the-art principles of architectural modeling, service-oriented architecture, enterprise information management, and software design and development.

* Solution Architect for two or more large-scale, heterogeneous IT programs.

* Demonstrated success at developing solutions that solve business problems.

* Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of an SOA and Services in an enterprise setting.

* Transportation Industry experience.

* Broad IT experience in networking technologies.

* Demonstrated knowledge of an EA frameworks.

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
