Job Summary

The Senior Community Liaison is a key role within VNS Health, responsible for educating consumers in the communities served by the organization about Medicare Advantage, Medicare Advantage with Prescription Drug (MAPD) or Dual Special Needs Plan (DSNP) products and the benefits of enrolling in these VNS Health Plans products. This role requires achieving monthly enrollment requirements and attending and conducting presentations during weekly events. The Senior Community Liaison works under general supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop effective working relationships with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), the provider community, religious organizations, and other appropriate channels to generate leads, build brand awareness, and enroll new members.
  • Achieve monthly and annual membership goals.
  • Perform all duties within Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, following all rules and regulations, and stay up to date on all new marketing policies.
  • Provide direct consumer education about the VNS Health Plans MAP, MAPD, or DSNP products.
  • Perform retention efforts developed by department leadership to reduce member turnover.
  • Travel between numerous referral sources across all regions to promote VNS Health's MAP, MAPD, or DSNP products.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Licenses and Certifications:
    • New York State Accident and Health Insurance License, required
    • Valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle or ability to travel through all five boroughs preferred
  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or the equivalent, required
    • Bachelor's degree, preferred
  • Work Experience:
    • Minimum four years of managed Medicare, Medicaid, life insurance, and/or any other sales experience that includes collecting premiums during the initial sale required OR a minimum two years of experience in a related department at VNS CHOICE, required
    • Experience marketing to a culturally diverse target population, required
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak in front of large groups, required
    • Strong organizational skills, required
    • Existing relationships with key potential referrers, required
    • Bi-lingual skills, preferred
