Position Summary:
The Kikiktagruk Inupiat Corporation is seeking a skilled Scientist III specializing in Cell Biology to support various ongoing research initiatives within the Division of Applied Regulatory Science (DARS). This role requires expertise across multiple scientific domains, including bioanalysis, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, immunology, microbiology, and cell and molecular biology. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) and innovative in vitro systems, such as organoids and microphysiological systems, aimed at enhancing the predictive capabilities of drug effects in clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and validate chromatographic and mass spectrometry-based assays for small molecules in various biological samples.
- Develop and validate ligand binding assays for diverse protein targets.
- Generate comprehensive reports detailing reliable, sensitive, and validated analytical methods.
- Provide bioanalytical support for in vitro studies, including method development, validation, sample analysis, and data dissemination.
- Oversee the calibration of laboratory instruments such as HPLC and LC-MS/MS.
- Draft and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols for method validation and pharmacokinetic studies.
- Review existing SOPs and create new documentation as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Standard Operating Procedures, Good Laboratory Practices, and safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in bioengineering, microphysiology, cell biology, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of four years of research experience involving microdevices for mammalian cell culture.
- Practical laboratory experience in cell and molecular biology techniques.
- 1-3 years of experience in research laboratories within academic or industrial settings.
- Strong teamwork, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain site access.
Preferred Competencies:
- Experience with soft lithography and micromolding techniques.
- Familiarity with in vitro drug testing and bioanalytical methodologies.
- Experience in culturing and assessing the functionality of hepatic cells.
- Skills in differentiating hepatocytes from induced pluripotent stem cells.
