  • POSITION OVERVIEW
    • The Operating Room Technologist plays a vital role in delivering skilled technical support to patients during surgical interventions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include preparing the surgical environment, sterilizing and organizing instruments, and assisting in the assessment of patient care plans within the operating room. This role contributes to the overall efficiency, safety, and workflow of the surgical unit while performing additional related tasks as needed.
  • ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent experience.
    • Experience: No prior experience required for graduates of surgical technology programs; however, a minimum of 5 years of experience is necessary for those without formal training.
    • Licensure/Certification: Current BLS Certification as a BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from recognized organizations.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: Not applicable.
    • Experience: At least one year of experience as a surgical technologist is preferred.
    • Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is highly desirable.
  • SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and communicate clearly with patients and surgical teams. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential during surgical procedures. Capability to operate technical equipment and maintain composure under pressure. Proficient in maintaining accurate documentation and participating in the training of new staff and students. Must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting as required by the role.
    • READING - Intermediate: Proficient in interpreting technical documents and procedural manuals.
    • WRITING - Intermediate: Capable of composing routine reports and correspondence.
    • SPEAKING - Intermediate: Able to effectively communicate information in various settings.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Competent in basic arithmetic operations.
    • REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Able to apply logical reasoning to solve problems.
    • AGE-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES - Knowledgeable in providing appropriate care for patients of different age groups.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
    • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
      • Requires prolonged standing and walking, with the ability to lift and transfer patients and equipment. Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds.
      • Continuous standing and walking for over 2 hours.
      • Frequent sitting for 1/3 to 2 hours.
      • Continuous use of hands for various tasks.
      • Regular bending and reaching activities.
    • WORK ENVIRONMENT
      • Typical noise levels are moderate, similar to a business office environment.
    • WORKING CONDITIONS
      • May encounter exposure to infectious materials and hazardous substances. Regularly faces risks associated with surgical procedures and patient care.
Additional Information
There is currently no set weekend rotation. On-call duties are required.
