About the Role

As a Senior Human Factors Engineer at embecta, you will play a critical role in shaping the user experience of our innovative medical devices. Our team is dedicated to empowering people with diabetes to live their best lives through cutting-edge solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generative Research & Front-End Innovation: Conduct human factors research, including observational studies, contextual inquiries, and ethnography, to inform user needs and design principles.
  • Use-related Risk Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate use-related risks, ensuring the safe and effective use of our medical devices.
  • Formative Usability Evaluations: Design, execute, and report on usability evaluations, including heuristic evaluations and simulated use walk-throughs, to inform design decisions.
  • Summative Usability Evaluations & User Needs Validation: Support the project lead on summative evaluations and contribute to validation study protocols to ensure the successful use of our medical devices.
  • Human Factors Engineering Support for Regulatory Submissions: Contribute to project-specific human factors strategies and support regulatory filings with well-documented human factors evidence.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a technical field related to Human Factors Engineering, such as human factors engineering, industrial psychology, biomedical engineering, or behavioral psychology.
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of technical experience in Human Factors Engineering, with a focus on medical device development.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to technical teams and executive leadership. Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a working understanding of the End-to-End Product Development Process.
