Phlebotomist - Toledo Hospital - Full Time - Days

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Toledo Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in the region. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.
Job Summary:The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients of all ages, using proper techniques and following strict principles of asepsis and antisepsis. You will work closely with our laboratory team to ensure accurate and timely specimen collection, processing, and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:- Collect blood specimens from patients using proper techniques and equipment.
- Follow strict principles of asepsis and antisepsis to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Assist in the care of patients prior to, during, and after specimen collection.
- Determine the appropriate tests and associated minimum volumes for each specimen.
- Utilize laboratory computer information systems to track and manage specimen collection and processing.
- Perform and document quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Act as a resource and liaison between phlebotomy staff and laboratory teams.
- Cross-train in defined core job functions and patient care departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the laboratory team.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Diploma from an accredited phlebotomy training institute or one year of phlebotomy experience.
- Successful completion of an academic program with substantial practical clinical phlebotomy experience.
- Preferred qualifications include professional registration (PBT(ASCP)) and one year of experience in a high-volume phlebotomy environment.
The Phlebotomist will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent exposure to disease-bearing specimens, blood, and body fluids. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow PPE guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Shifts for this position are 12 hours in length, covering the patient care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays and weekends.
