SUMMARY
Mortenson is on the lookout for a skilled Crane Superintendent I to join our Wind operating group. This role involves the coordination, planning, and oversight of assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within a specific discipline.

Our goal is to foster and enhance customer relationships through exceptional service. Candidates must possess NCCCO certification and have experience in crane assembly and disassembly, along with the qualifications outlined below. Willingness to travel throughout the United States with regular home rotations is essential. Please note that project assignments cannot be guaranteed. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities are crucial for success in this role:

  • Organizing and implementing plans to ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections align with the project schedule, including crane dismantling.
  • Reviewing construction documents for completeness and feasibility.
  • Understanding and coordinating contract documents with design engineers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Participating in the development and management of project schedules, including three and six-week look-ahead plans.
  • Creating a site logistics plan.
  • Managing the use of Mortenson tools and equipment.
  • Collaborating with project partner superintendents.
  • Providing coaching, supervision, and development for team members.
  • Conducting on-site project orientations and effective pre-construction planning sessions.
  • Supervising project partners, craft foremen, and crews.
  • Mentoring and evaluating the performance of Assistant Superintendents, General Foremen, and Foremen.
  • Overseeing the hiring, transferring, and, if necessary, termination of craft team members.
  • Ensuring accurate task coding of work hours on timecards.
  • Tracking work progress and craft productivity.
  • Managing training for craft team members to ensure readiness before task commencement.
  • Facilitating career development discussions with foremen and craft team members.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned, including overseeing safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team members.
  • Identifying and mitigating unfavorable working conditions.
  • Recognizing opportunities for process and procedure improvements.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of eight years of construction experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with the capability to organize and oversee various project tasks.
  • Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A positive and professional attitude, coupled with strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
  • A valid driver's license.


EDUCATION:

An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or a minimum of 10 years of trade experience is required. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
