Position Summary

The Coffee Shop Attendant is responsible for maintaining a welcoming atmosphere in a dining setting, ensuring that patrons enjoy a clean and pleasant experience. Key responsibilities include clearing tables, resetting dining areas, and providing beverages to guests. We are seeking individuals to fill flexible shifts totaling 32 hours per week, including early morning and lunchtime hours, with some weekend availability. Experience in cash handling and familiarity with alcoholic beverages is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers warmly and take their food and drink orders
  • Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, from simple to complex
  • Prepare and serve food items, including soups, sandwiches, and pastries
  • Address customer inquiries regarding menu selections
  • Encourage and suggest menu items to enhance customer experience
  • Process customer payments efficiently
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of inventory and equipment
  • Ensure a sanitary and orderly work environment
  • Assess and improve service processes for enhanced efficiency and quality
  • Clear used dishes, glasses, and utensils from tables
  • Set up tables with clean cutlery and glassware for new guests
  • Engage with guests in a friendly and prompt manner
  • Prepare tables for new diners
  • Assist in delivering meal orders when necessary
  • Report any guest service issues to management
  • Ensure guest satisfaction throughout their dining experience
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Excellent listening and communication skills in a friendly manner
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Adhere to safety protocols when handling hot beverages
  • Demonstrate efficiency and organizational skills
  • Build positive relationships with customers
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace
  • Keep supplies stocked to minimize interruptions
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 6 months of experience in a service role
  • Hospitality experience is a plus
  • Basic math skills and cash-handling abilities
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
