Job Summary

Whirlwind Steel Buildings Inc is seeking a skilled Fabrication Technician to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing process, you will be responsible for the layout, fit, and fabrication of metal components to assemble built-up members, fabrication of structural I-beams, fabricated cold form (thin gauge material), and plate steel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints or other specifications to determine the scope of the work and the materials required.
  • Component Alignment: Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, overhead cranes, pins, wedges, and hammers.
  • Material Preparation: Measure and mark materials to specifications per blueprints, cut and wash materials with torches (Oxy Fuel or Plasma) according to specifications.
  • Assembly and Welding: Tack Weld pieces together as needed, remove rust, mill scale, and foreign objects using grinder with wire wheel or wire brush to ensure proper cleaning of parts.
  • Quality Control: Ensure compliance with regulations, safety standards, and company policies at all times.
  • Productivity: Meet or exceed daily production goals.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in metal fabrication, fitting, or welding.
  • Skills: Ability to interpret blueprints and other technical drawings, utilize hand tools, welding equipment, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, excel in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs, stand, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods of time, and work in an environment that may be noisy, and/or require PPE.
