About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Windows & VMware System Administrator to join our team at LTIMindtree. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our virtualization and Windows server environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain the connectivity between different locations
  • Assist end users with system knowledge related to user authentication, user management, file configuration, storage access and backup and navigation through files
  • Manage network communication utilities
  • Monitor server and desktop CPU / storage / memory usage (leveraging tools for eye on the glass monitoring) using tools like task manager, event viewer to investigate performance and security issues
  • Set repository, install, update, and remove packages
  • Manage network printers, file sharing
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software and core services
  • Create and configure file system and attributes such as permissions, access controls list, encryptions, and network file system
  • Work closely with security team to design and deploy security specific packages across servers
  • Research, schedule, test and patch systems per schedules and requirements. Determine patch interactivities between systems and applications to limit downtime.
  • Maintain server patch versions as per the standards and provide the monthly patching compliance report
  • Design and implement hardening configurations across operating systems. Research, test, validate hardening configurations suggested by the Infosec department to understand impact to global application library.
  • Design/Manage/Optimize DFS namespace entries and namespace servers for creation, deletion and modification
  • Resolve server issues and update hardware requirements, including scoping equipment to fit needs
  • Operate running systems including booting into different run levels, identifying processes, start/stop virtual machines and controlling services
  • Provide L1/L2/L3 infrastructure support for on-premise / Azure Gov/ Azure Commercial/AWS Commercial, GCP and Oracle Cloud environments
  • Perform incident, service catalog, problem, change management
  • Deploy workloads via automated workflows using PowerShell scripts, Terraform, Ansible, ARM templates, DevOps Pipelines
  • Architect, design, implement, maintain, and optimize all server-related systems including hypervisor, virtual machines, virtual appliances, containers, and automations.
  • Perform all maintenance required to keep systems running at peak performance, including but not limited to: log management, snapshot management, system growth rates, cleaning of unused files and objects.
  • Design, build and maintain server-related automations pre-existing and go-forward.
  • Handle all internal CA Authority management of certificates and externally facing certificates. Work with applications teams to deploy certificates effectively and responsibly based on use-case. Own entire certificate process end to end.
  • VMWare VSphere
  • Experience or significant exposure to any of the following technologies:
  • VMWare VSphere and its features (vMotion, HA, DRS etc...)
  • ESXi deployments
  • VM creation, templates, snapshots and VM backup
  • Administer and support VMware platform.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation on virtualization.
  • Provide a point of escalation and support to the Service Desk Team
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for the environment.
  • Participate in weekend maintenance activities, as required.
  • Perform routine system administration duties.
  • Monitor ESXi servers and troubleshoot problems.
  • Produce appropriate documentation for application deployment, configuration, and related processes.
  • Responsible for the operations and upkeep of the private and shared virtualized environments.
  • Work closely with other virtualization engineers on new implementations as well as maintaining the current environments.
  • Act as a technical escalation point within Central Operations for virtualization specific issues.
  • Responsible for implementing and supporting process and systems are in place to deliver highly available virtualization platforms.
  • Creates documentation for customer environments, processes, technical training, and support procedures.
  • Provides training and technical leadership to Tier I personnel.
  • Provide additional support when necessary for backup and storage functions.
  • Drives efficient and effective resolution of customer issues.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage of critical customer and internal systems.
  • Must have working experience supporting, maintaining and administering core VMware technologies.
  • Must have experience performing Enterprise level Project Implementation and support. Also must have strong working knowledge.
  • Excellent customer service and telephone skills, and experience in a professional service environment, with responsibility for supporting multiple applications and network environments.
  • Must have Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must have very strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
