Under the supervision of the Facilities Services Custodial Shift Supervisor, the Custodian will be responsible for performing custodial cleaning duties and operations in the College's academic buildings, residence halls, and grounds in accordance with established cleaning standards and work details.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and maintain restrooms, including floors, walls, tiles, ceiling, doors, vents, fixtures, and mirrors.
- Dispose of trash and recyclables from assigned rooms, offices, and common areas.
- Clean and maintain walls, floors, doors, frames, and glass surfaces in student rooms and lounges, kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, stairways, lounges, classrooms, labs, library, dining areas, storage areas, entrances, and offices.
- Perform necessary cleaning and setup of residential halls rooms and suites during the academic year and in preparation for summer months.
- Coordinate work between arriving groups to ensure all rooms are cleaned and ready for fall students.
- Shovel snow to clear and clean walkways, paths, sidewalks, building entrances, and steps during snow events.
- Apply snow melt to same areas as directed.
- General knowledge of cleaning terms and safety procedures related to handling of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to read and write English and follow oral and written instructions.
- Able to bend, stoop, push, pull, lift, and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb stairs.
The Custodian will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interactions with other Facilities Services staff and College members. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
CompensationThe salary for this position is $29.20/hr regular rate - $21.90/hr probationary rate*. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
*Probationary rate is followed by wage progressions.
