Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Structural Project Engineer to join our team at Stantec. This role will involve working independently on small projects and as a team member on larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products for a project.
  2. Independently complete calculations and drawings for small projects, including steel, concrete, masonry, metal stud, and/or timber structures.
  3. Work with BIM staff to ensure accurate and efficient design.
  4. Develop job-specific discipline specifications independently for less complex projects.
  5. Coordinate with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines for project coordination.
  6. Perform Construction Administration duties, including field observation reports, RFI responses, submittal reviews, and contractor change order evaluations.
  7. Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and client.
Requirements
  1. Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.
  2. Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience of architects, engineers, and clients.
  4. Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  5. Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively in both independently and in team settings.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 4 years of related experience (or 3 years with a Master's degree).
  2. Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, Master's Degree preferred.
  3. Professional Engineering license is required (or obtain within a year), Structural Engineering license is a plus.
  4. Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit) is a plus.
  5. Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite) and industry standard Structural Engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.) is a plus.
Work Environment

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
