About the Role

As a Patient Care Technician - Health Unit Coordinator, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support within our fast-paced inpatient environment. You will work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations and contribute to a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and record patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and blood glucose levels. Report observations and information to the nursing team promptly.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility. Respond to patient call lights and requests efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, files, and documentation related to admissions, surgeries, transfers, discharges, medical records, and physician call lists. Ensure the cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • Prepare reports, purchase orders, projects, memos, and letters using computer programs.
  • Greet visitors, answer telephones, and communicate with nursing staff and medical professionals using pagers, beepers, and cell phones. Track call light response times for the unit.
  • Perform various tasks as directed by nurses or physicians, including running errands, picking up supplies, and transporting patients.
  • Maintain inventory, requisition, and stock work area supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Less than 1 Year of Experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
