Role Summary

The Instructor in Natural Gas Technology is responsible for delivering educational content from the established curriculum and creating comprehensive lesson plans that incorporate instructional resources. The role includes engaging in initiatives aimed at student retention by providing consistent, precise, and timely feedback regarding academic performance, conduct, and attendance. The instructor will inspire students to engage fully in their educational journey and will participate in professional development activities to uphold college standards. This position will involve collaboration between the natural gas technology and diesel programs, offering support to academic leadership and students.

Qualifications Required
  • Associate's degree in a relevant field or equivalent academic coursework and industry certification
  • A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and specialized laboratory equipment relevant to both programs
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong communication, organizational, and public speaking abilities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Possession of a valid Texas Driver's license with a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in teaching at the college level
  • Familiarity with natural gas technology
  • Relevant industry certification
  • Experience in a post-secondary educational environment
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver courses in the Natural Gas Technology and Diesel programs for both college and high school dual enrollment
  • Exhibit safe and effective use of all laboratory equipment
  • Prepare and communicate clear educational objectives while delivering accurate course content
  • Collaborate with local industry representatives to enhance program resources
  • Attend advisory committee meetings
  • Maintain and secure student records
  • Engage in recruitment and counseling activities
  • Fulfill faculty responsibilities as outlined in institutional policies and regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time
  • Capacity to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Occasional travel to various locations
  • Movement between office and classroom settings
  • Frequent use of a keyboard
  • Manual dexterity is required
  • Regular communication with others; must be able to convey accurate information
  • Occasional lifting of equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Work may involve both indoor and outdoor settings
  • Willingness to work extended hours and participate in college or community events
  • This role may require a split workday and/or evening schedule
  • Ability to work in both natural gas technology and diesel laboratories
