Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician will accurately and timely prepare all medications, including IV medications, under the direct supervision of the pharmacist as per policy and regulation.

The successful candidate will compound IV medications in a cleanroom environment according to USP 797 standards, restock Automated dispensing devices and Carousels, fill Floor stock requisitions, complete expired medication inspections, and answer phones to assist in dispensing questions.

The Pharmacy Technician will ensure all medications are properly delivered, break down wholesaler orders, complete receipt documentation, and stock in designated locations.

Maintain organization of storage areas/storeroom and ensure ordering replacement stock as required based on patient usage and par levels.

Functionally use the hospital information systems.

Requirements

Current NJ registration (or eligible on hire)

Must register with the NJ Board of Pharmacy during the first 10 days of employment.

Must complete the registration with the NJ Board of Pharmacy and become an active registered Pharmacy Technician within 180 days of hire.

Pharmacy Technician National Certification (PTCB) - preferred.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
