Job Title: Teacher 2024-2025, Special Education In-Class Support ONLY, High School

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. As a Special Education Teacher, you will work closely with students, parents, and other staff members to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop and implement IEPs
  • Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for assigned students
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles and develop appropriate instructional strategies
  • Present subject matter effectively and according to IEP guidelines
  • Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula as needed
  • Participate in IEP Committee meetings and selection of instructional materials
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing
  • Provide or supervise personal care, medical care, and feeding of students as stated in IEP
  • Assume responsibility for approved extracurricular activities or outside activities as assigned
  • Consult district and outside resource people regarding education, social, medical, and personal needs of students

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements
  • Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
  • Knowledge of IEP goal setting and meeting process and implementation
  • Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs
  • Effective communication skills

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Frequent walking
  • May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities
  • Exposure to biological hazards

Salary and Benefits:

Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees
