Position OverviewRole Summary:

This is a uniformed role that requires a constant presence. The Security Operations Officer is tasked with acting as a visible deterrent to unlawful activities, ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and visitors, and overseeing the protection and surveillance of healthcare facilities, assets, and grounds as designated. The officer is also responsible for responding to emergency situations, managing internal and external crises as necessary, conducting initial investigations of reported incidents, and executing other security-related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the established competencies of the organization, demonstrating leadership qualities.
  • Conducts regular security inspections of the premises and surrounding areas as assigned.
  • Identifies and communicates trends related to security concerns, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Documents initial details for incident reports with accuracy, ensuring clarity and professionalism in written communication.
  • Responds promptly to all service requests communicated through various channels in a courteous manner.
  • Manages the collection, inventory, and return of lost items and personal belongings in accordance with established protocols.
  • Enforces organizational policies and state laws consistently.
  • Oversees facility parking regulations through patrols and appropriate enforcement measures.
  • Assists healthcare staff with managing difficult patients or visitors.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned duties in a manner that meets the diverse needs of individuals served.
  • Exhibits proficiency in operating security systems and communication devices.
  • Utilizes computer systems to generate reports and maintain electronic correspondence.
  • Promotes a secure environment by reporting safety hazards observed during rounds.
  • Adapts assessment and care methods to meet the unique needs of each individual served.
  • Maintains competence in the use of security equipment and techniques.
  • Handles exposure to challenging situations and potential hazards with professionalism.
  • Engages in physical activities such as walking, standing, and lifting as required by the role.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must maintain mental alertness at all times.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to make swift decisions regarding policies and procedures is necessary.
  • Must manage multiple tasks effectively and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Experience in armed security or military service is preferred.
  • Prior law enforcement or healthcare security experience is advantageous.
  • Active security certification as required by state regulations is mandatory.
  • Completion of necessary training and certifications within specified timeframes is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
