Slate is a US-based company pioneering the development of electric vehicles. We are seeking a skilled High Voltage Validation Engineer to join our growing team. As a key member, you will be responsible for developing and validating Electrified Powertrain High Voltage components across various vehicle platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute Design Validation Plans (DVPs) for propulsion system requirements, testing both virtually and in physical facilities.
  • Evaluate requirements, identify suitable testing environments (MIL, SIL, HIL, or vehicle), and complete tests.
  • Conduct pre-analysis of issues, identify critical scenarios, and propose solutions.
  • Utilize virtual testing environments to enhance cost savings and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with controls, calibration, and quality teams for root cause analysis and solution development.
  • Work with software and controls teams to report and prioritize open points, assigning severity and suggesting mitigations.
  • Lead and run High Voltage DV/PV testing, covering electrical, mechanical, thermal, environmental, and lifecycle assessments.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee internal and external testing activities, ensuring alignment with program achievements.
  • Provide feedback on product performance and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing procedures and methods.
  • Design and implement various levels of safety training programs and plans for internal employees working on HV systems.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Applied Physics, Systems, or Computer Engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited or equivalent university.
  • 3+ years (post-Masters/PhD) or 5+ years (post-Bachelors) of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of hybrid and fully electric vehicle architectures and propulsion systems.
  • Proficiency with ISO/SAE diagnostic standards, Functional Safety (FuSa) and CAN/LIN network protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with High-Voltage systems, associated safety protocols and regulations, ETAS INCA, CANalyzer, and object-oriented programming languages such as Python.
  • Proficient in overseeing third-party testing and conducting HV testing in the lab while adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Experience in developing and executing detailed test plans using various testing equipment and methods.
  • High level of mathematical and data analysis capabilities with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to a fast-paced startup environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of real-time systems, hardware, and software integration in product engineering design and development.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages for data analysis and experiment design.
  • Experience in coding efficiently for large dataset analysis and database management.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence for project management and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of test standards, regulations, and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).
  • High voltage safety experience, including work on isolation, interlock loops, and equipotential bonding.
  • Experience in basic fabrication and effective communication with machine shop staff.
  • Familiarity with software tools like Canoe, MS Project, and Visio.
