Job Title: Diagnostic Software Validation Engineer

Job Summary:

Altair is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Software Validation Engineer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Software Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing test specifications, executing component and subsystem diagnostic testing for all ECUs of the vehicle electrical architectures.

You will work closely with the Software Team, Electrical Team, and Propulsion Team to validate the subsystem and component level diagnostics on different test properties. Your tasks will include generating test cases, analyzing results to ensure program requirements are met, and developing diagnostic validation test cases for the subsystem and component level for each module (ECUs) across vehicle architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop test specifications and execute component and subsystem diagnostic testing for all ECUs of the vehicle electrical architectures.
  • Work closely with the Software Team, Electrical Team, and Propulsion Team to validate the subsystem and component level diagnostics on different test properties.
  • Generate test cases and analyze results to ensure program requirements are met.
  • Develop diagnostic validation test cases for the subsystem and component level for each module (ECUs) across vehicle architecture.
  • Collaborate with Software, Electrical, and Propulsion teams to develop DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and test properties validation plans.
  • Write detailed test specifications and test scripts based on system and component requirements.
  • Analyze and visualize large data sets from various data sources to understand the use cases and validation criteria.
  • Technical communication of analysis results and tradeoffs.
  • Root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and escalation of risks to keep software development process on track.
  • Identify opportunities for automation. Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency.
  • Participate in Agile Software development processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Computer Software, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in using systems modeling platforms for test development, test automation, test requirements development, execution and reporting.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience working with low voltage and high voltage systems.
  • Excellent communication, team building, and relationship building skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Open and closed-loop control systems for sensors, actuators, vehicle controllers, etc.
  • Low voltage components such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
  • High voltage components such as DCDC, motor and inverter, battery, and on-board charger, etc.
  • Electric vehicle system simulation, requirements, testing, and validation.
  • CAN-Bus, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocol.
  • CAN tools such as CANalyzer, P-CAN, Kvaser, CANoe, CANApe, etc.
  • Hands on Experience with CAPL Scripting, ECU Test tool for Automation.
  • Experience in working with FIU's and any diagnostic tool (OEM/Supplier).
  • Experience in cdd file generation and DID development.
  • Strong Knowledge of ISO 14229 UDS protocol specification.
  • MATLAB, Simulink, and State flowcharts.
  • Knowledge in scripting languages (such as Python).
  • Knowledge with a requirements management tool, such as Polarion or DOORS.
  • 8D, five whys, and other structured problem-solving tools to diagnose complex issues.
  • Industry standards such as FMVSSS, NHTSA, SAE, etc.
