Regional Public Affairs Manager

At Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Regional Public Affairs Manager to join our team in Washington State. As a key member of our public affairs team, you will play a critical role in shaping our company's public policy agenda and building relationships with state officials, staff, and local and regional policymakers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Educate and inform Washington state policymakers, agency officials, and organizations about the impacts of regulations, laws, and policies on our operations.
  • Identify, analyze, and provide strategic recommendations on public policy issues primarily affecting our regional operations.
  • Build and manage relationships, acting as a liaison with state officials, staff, and local and regional policymakers and government entities.
  • Manage relationships with various regional trade associations, state chambers, and other industry stakeholders; drive policy development with these groups to align with our legislative and regulatory policies.
  • Identify opportunities for executives and subject matter experts to share company experience and knowledge for key policy development.
  • Regularly update employees and leaders on potential, imminent, and current government impacts on business operations.
  • Serve as an integral and participative member of the SEL public affairs team.
  • Advocate for fair, free, flat, and open business environments.
  • Model and teach SEL values, Principles of Operations, and World-Class Manufacturing principles.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Extensive experience in government relations, public affairs, or a similar field or related industry
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Satisfactory background check results
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational, networking, leadership, and time management skills
  • Previous public affairs experience in Washington state

We offer a competitive pay package, including a salary range of $76,900 - $120,300, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, prescription, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
