Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft a diverse range of premium pastries, desserts, and baked goods that align with Zuma's exceptional standards.
  • Execute pastry recipes with accuracy and consistency, adhering to established presentation guidelines.
  • Maintain an orderly and hygienic pastry station, ensuring proper storage of all ingredients and tools.
  • Collaborate with the pastry team to innovate new menu items and seasonal specialties.
  • Monitor stock levels and report any shortages or discrepancies to the Pastry Sous Chef.
  • Guide and mentor junior pastry staff, sharing expertise on techniques and best practices.
  • Assist in developing production schedules and participate in daily pre-service meetings.
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, ensuring proper handling and storage of ingredients.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures as directed by kitchen management.
  • Uphold Zuma's dedication to quality, excellence, and guest satisfaction in every aspect of food preparation.
  • Act ethically to maintain the company's esteemed reputation.
  • Perform additional duties as required or requested.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Prior experience as a Pastry Chef de Partie or in a similar capacity within a high-volume restaurant or hotel setting.
  • Strong grasp of pastry techniques, including mixing, baking, piping, and decorating.
  • Familiarity with pastry ingredients, flavors, and combinations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining efficiency under pressure.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Culinary degree or relevant training is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully, in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; ability to stand for extended periods and navigate steps regularly.
  • Ability to maneuver through work areas; frequently bend, lift, carry, reach, and extend arms above shoulder height in a dynamic environment.
