Dental Hygienist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team at MIT Health. As a key member of our dental service team, you will provide high-quality dental care and oral hygiene instruction to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and therapeutic treatments according to patient needs, including coronal polishing, scaling, root planning, and applying fluoride.
  • Expose and develop radiographs, and manage soft tissue regimens as described by law.
  • Assist in obtaining and updating clerical and clinical information, and documenting same.

Requirements:

  • Registered dental hygienist with a valid license in Massachusetts.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other dental service staff members.
  • Skilled in sharpening dental instruments and using dental handpieces and instruments.
  • Familiarity with X-ray exposure and developing equipment, and sterilization equipment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Working Conditions:

  • Long periods of sitting and/or standing.
  • Working on a single task for prolonged periods.
  • Strict adherence to routine and repetitive tasks.
  • Exposure to hazardous materials, including blood/body fluids, hazardous waste, radiation, chemicals, toxins/poisonous substances, ultraviolet light, and sharp instruments.
