Role Summary:
The Cotton Preparation Laborer is responsible for executing manual tasks essential for the preparation of cotton for classification. This role involves the handling of materials, including hauling, unloading, loading, stacking, and transporting materials for conditioning purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently transport trays to various locations within the facility.
- Meet weekly production targets.
- Lift, push, and pull carts; open and remove contents; repack and secure samples.
- Utilize equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, and vacuums.
- Follow both oral and written instructions accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness by sweeping, vacuuming, and using basic hand tools.
Work Environment:
This position is situated within a temperature-controlled facility with exposure to cotton dust and lint. Safety equipment is available upon request for those who wish to use ear plugs, dust masks, or safety goggles.
Physical Demands:
Candidates must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds and performing tasks that require prolonged standing, bending, twisting, and reaching.
Compensation:
The hourly wage is $15.00, with additional health and welfare benefits totaling $4.80 per hour, resulting in a combined pay rate of $19.80 per hour. Note that health and welfare benefits do not apply to overtime hours.
Work Schedule:
Shifts available include:
- 7:00 am – 4:30 pm
- 4:00 pm - 12:30 am
Benefits:
After completing a probationary period, employees will be eligible for paid holidays and will accrue vacation time at a rate of 3.33 hours for every 160 hours worked. Please note that there are no sick time benefits associated with this position.
