Position Overview
As a Clinical Specialty Pharmacist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications within specialized healthcare settings. Your expertise will be essential in managing medication therapy for patients with complex health conditions.
Department: Behavioral Health Pharmacy
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with every fourth weekend included.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage medication orders to identify and resolve drug-related issues.
- Advise on formulary alternatives when necessary.
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately for patient care.
- Provide comprehensive drug information and education to healthcare professionals and patients.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to enhance patient outcomes.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians in the preparation and distribution of medications.
- Participate in educational activities, including mentoring pharmacy students.
- Provide patient counseling as needed.
Qualifications
Licensure: Must possess a valid pharmacist license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation prior to employment.
Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Pharmacy is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a PGY2 residency with a focus on behavioral health.
- Alternatively, a PGY1 residency with relevant behavioral health experience.
- Significant experience as a pharmacist specializing in behavioral health.
