Job Title: Asphalt Plant Operator

We are seeking a highly skilled Asphalt Plant Operator to join our team at Jr. Davis Construction Company, Inc. in Orlando, FL or surrounding area.

Job Summary:

The Asphalt Plant Operator will be responsible for operating asphalt plants, controlling the flow of materials, and maintaining proper heat in the dryer. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent math skills, and experience working with Aztec double barrel components and controls.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate asphalt plants, controlling the flow of materials and maintaining proper heat in the dryer.
  • Assist in maintenance of plant equipment and compile reports on plant production and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the quality control department to inspect each batch of product and ensure a quality mix is produced.
  • Assist the plant foreman with material ordering, inventory management, and record keeping.
  • Maintain safety policies and communicate with road crews, truck drivers, dispatchers, and other coworkers.
Requirements:
  • Climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, pushing, pulling, vibration, twisting, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, reaching.
  • Requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb stairs/ladders to top of plant.
  • Uses tools such as sledge hammer, wrenches, screwdrivers, cutting torch, welder, pneumatic hammer/drill, sand blaster, pipe wrench, hand shovel.
  • Answers telephone, radio, and takes and inputs orders.
  • Overtime work is required.
  • May be exposed to extremes of hot or cold weather.
  • Requires riding to and from plant sites.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • High school graduate with strong math skills and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as Asphalt Plant Operator.
  • Experience with Aztec double barrel components & controls a plus.
  • Computer literate, experience with Microsoft Excel.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work 10 to 12 hours a day or night and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to listen, follow directions, and have a willingness to continue to enhance skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
