Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in the Cell Therapy Laboratory and Blood Bank Department. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and related duties. You will utilize scientific principles, technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory technical operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance, and corrective action. You will also be responsible for test result correlation and clinical laboratory-related continuing education. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist program, or a Bachelor's degree and one to two years of experience/training acceptable to the ASCP or AMT. Six months of Blood Banking experience and Cell therapy handling/processing experience are preferred. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist from the ASCP or AMT within 12 months of hire date is required. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, with rotation every 3rd weekend and holiday, and on-call every 4th weekend. The hourly range for this position is $41.50 per hour. Avera McKennan Hospital offers competitive pay, front-loaded PTO, and options for free health insurance, Student Loan Repayment Program, sign-on bonus, various shifts to fit your lifestyle, and opportunities for career growth. This position may be eligible for a $15,000 Sign-On Bonus with a 3-year commitment. The Student Loan Repayment Program helps you pay off your loans and save money. Each month, an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000) from Avera will help pay down your principal balance faster.
