Overview

UnityPoint Health is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical individual to work in our laboratory department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and test procedures according to established policies and guidelines.
  • Interpret quality control results and instrument function.
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance duties.
  • Provide assistance and guidance involving repairs, validations, and function checks and works with vendors as appropriate.
  • Collect blood specimens, etc. from laboratory outpatients.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Education:

Baccalaureate degree with major in Medical Technology or related science.

Experience:

Less than one year.

License(s)/Certification(s):

Certified as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by Board of Registry of ASCP or equivalent due upon hire or within 1 year from date of hire.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.

Multicultural sensitivity.

Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.

Customer/patient focused.

Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.

Other:

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
