Position Overview:
The Physician Assistant will be responsible for evaluating patients, diagnosing conditions, and administering treatment under the guidance of an Orthopedic Surgeon. This role includes assisting in surgical procedures and managing patient care in a clinical setting.
The position entails operating room assistance twice weekly, with clinic responsibilities on other days.
Key Responsibilities:
To excel in this role, the individual must effectively perform the following duties:
1. Assess new, follow-up, and urgent care patients, develop treatment strategies based on clinical findings, and collaborate with the supervising physician as necessary.
2. Request and interpret diagnostic examinations (e.g., laboratory tests, imaging studies).
3. Prescribe and manage medications, orthotic devices, and other relevant treatments.
4. Conduct procedures such as injections, aspirations, and the application and removal of casts and splints.
5. Address patient inquiries regarding postoperative care, medications, and collaborate with support staff to ensure cohesive teamwork.
6. Complete all medical documentation within 48 hours of patient consultations.
7. Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are essential for this position:
- Advanced degree with state licensure is mandatory.
- Recent graduates are encouraged to apply; 1 to 3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Experience in orthopedics is advantageous.
- Proficiency in computer systems, particularly electronic medical records, is required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
Additional Information:
This role requires a commitment of more than 40 hours per week, including attendance at routine meetings outside of standard business hours.
Periodic travel to various practice locations may be necessary.
