Cancer Specialists of North Florida is seeking a skilled part-time Centralized Oncology Triage Nurse to join our dynamic Specialty Practice. This role involves providing care to patients with hematologic malignancies and oncologic conditions through our Centralized Triage Department, utilizing both medical and radiation oncology expertise.
Key Responsibilities- Exhibit proficiency in telephone assessment and triage, demonstrating the ability to evaluate patient issues and determine suitable interventions with guidance from physicians or advanced care practitioners as necessary.
- Adhere to established protocols and procedures to execute medical directives.
- Evaluate the educational needs of patients and their families, considering their physical and mental capabilities, and readiness to learn. Provide educational resources and support as needed.
- Monitor, interpret, and relay laboratory results, imaging, and other diagnostic tests to assess changes in patient conditions, ensuring all relevant information is communicated to the healthcare team.
- Deliver imaging and laboratory results to patients as instructed by the healthcare provider.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients, addressing their biophysical, psychosocial, educational, spiritual, and emotional needs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing Canopy web portal and OncoEMR systems for documentation and patient management.
- Record nursing assessments, patient education, care plans, medical orders, and medication refills in Canopy and/or OncoEMR.
- Document all triage interactions with healthcare providers and patients using Canopy, ensuring that symptom-related communications follow the designated pathways.
- Serve as a resource for medical assistants and other staff members as needed through telephone or email communication.
- Comply with safety and quality control standards, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and infection control protocols.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced staff members as required.
- Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience, including at least one (1) year in oncology nursing.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Active RN license in Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.
- Completion of ONS (or equivalent) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course or ONS Radiation certification required within six months of hire.
Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
