Job Summary

The successful candidate will conduct research and development in the area of head development for Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR). Responsibilities will include designing the optical system, characterizing the optical system, initiating and developing intellectual property, and publishing and presenting scientific results at conferences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop optical systems, including planar waveguides, mode converters, laser diodes, and near-field transducers.
  • Characterize optical systems and develop intellectual property.
  • Publish and present scientific results at conferences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new technologies.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Industrial experience is desired but not required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: modeling of planar lightwave circuits, modeling of plasmonic devices, and design of optical characterization tools for optical devices.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
