Job Summary

As a Lead Mental Health Aide at Anchor Hospital, you will play a vital role in providing direct care to adolescents and adult patients with psychiatric disorders, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Team Leader for other Mental Health Aide Technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Assist in providing comprehensive nursing unit orientation to new hire Mental Health Aides, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality care.
  • Monitor vital signs and assist patients with activities of daily living, promoting independence and dignity.
  • Assign group coverage and monitor program activities, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for patients.
  • Participate in hospital emergency codes, responding promptly and effectively to ensure patient safety.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient and program documentation, adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Perform regular safety rounds and complete required documentation, identifying and mitigating potential risks.

Requirements

Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Prefer experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a Mental Health Aide, with a strong understanding of patient care principles.

License/Certification: Current CPR Certification is required. Current Handle with Care and Verbal De-escalation certification is also preferred.

Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements: Work is physically and mentally demanding, requiring the ability to lift or move over fifty pounds.

Other: Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer, Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, RN Manager, RN Supervisors, Charge RN, and/or CEO.
