Litigation Support Services Manager

Covington & Burling LLP is seeking a highly skilled Litigation Support Services Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Litigation Support Services Department, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating a team of litigation support analysts and professionals to provide high-quality, cost-effective litigation support services to our firm's matters.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and support document review tools and services, as well as other litigation support technologies, to ensure efficient and effective case management.
- Coordinate and supervise staff to ensure high performance and adherence to firm policies, including maintaining appropriate staffing levels, making salary recommendations, and evaluating staff performance.
- Assist in the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of in-house and hosted litigation databases, including preparing estimates and coordinating with vendors.
- Manage and coordinate the firm's litigation support and eDiscovery service provider relationships, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of services.
- Work with Records and Facilities to ensure adequate physical space and facilities are available for case-related projects.
- Monitor costs, productivity, quality, and performance of internal support efforts and hosted projects, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Maintain current knowledge of outside service providers' capabilities and pricing for collection, processing, hosting, and production.
- Design and deliver training on the use of litigation support technologies for all levels of LSS staff, lawyers, and paralegals.
- Stay current on rapidly changing technology developments relating to litigation support, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Identify common case requirements and coordinate the preparation of standardized procedures, workflows, and materials, adhering to industry recommended practices.
- Assign cases to LSS staff according to case needs and distribute workloads equitably, building teams to support large matters.
- Uphold high standards of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity, particularly with respect to sensitive and confidential firm and client information.
- BA or BS degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in litigation support management in an AMLAW 100 firm or a top-tier litigation support services provider, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication, organizational, technical writing, and interpersonal skills, with a strong service orientation and ability to develop effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to propose solutions to complex case challenges and advise on and perform document inventory, deduplication, search, and culling techniques.
- Sufficient experience in case management to initiate and navigate vendor relationships on an escalated level for large or special-needs cases.
- Proven ability to succeed as a team leader, coordinating tasks with others in the department and with vendors.
- Experience supporting multiple document review tools, case and transcript management tools, and eDiscovery platforms.
- Ability to work under pressure and propose solutions, with prior trial experience a plus.
