The Patient Service Representative plays a crucial role as the initial point of contact for patients. This position is dedicated to delivering an exceptional patient experience through outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Confirm appointment and insurance details; input registration data into the system.
  • Conduct registration processes for both new and returning patients, ensuring all necessary demographic, insurance, and payment information is collected.
  • Clarify insurance eligibility criteria and coverage details to patients as needed.
  • Collect copayments, manage cash drawer, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Ensure timely verification of insurance prior to appointments.
  • Adapt to varying patient volumes and physician schedules.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between patients and the billing department for any billing inquiries.
  • Utilize the patient portal for registration tasks.
  • Apply knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in orthopedics.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office setting; experience in patient registration is advantageous.
  • Experience with EMR systems is necessary; familiarity with MEDENT is preferred.
  • Physical requirements include manual dexterity, standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds; normal visual and auditory acuity is essential.
