Snowflake Data Modeler Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Snowflake Data Modeler to join our team at Capgemini. As a Snowflake Data Modeler, you will be responsible for designing and implementing dimensional, snowflake, and relational data models for data warehousing and analytics purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into comprehensive logical and physical data models using ERWIN.
  • Design and implement dimensional, snowflake, and relational data models for data warehousing and analytics purposes.
  • Utilize best practices for data normalization, denormalization, and data partitioning to optimize query performance.
  • Create detailed data model documentation, including entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs), data dictionary, and data lineage.
  • Leverage Snowflake features like stages, variants, and data sharing to manage data ingestion, transformation, and distribution efficiently.
  • Optimize Snowflake queries for high performance and scalability within the cloud environment.
  • Implement data governance policies within Snowflake to ensure data quality and security.
  • Design and build data warehouse structures on Snowflake, considering data loading strategies and data refresh schedules.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to implement data pipelines for ETL/ELT processes, ensuring data quality and consistency.

Required Skills:

  • Utilize ERWIN to create, manage, and maintain complex data models, leveraging its features for data validation and impact analysis.
  • Ensure alignment between logical and physical data models across different environments.
  • Write complex SQL queries for data manipulation, data cleansing, and data analysis.
  • Optimize SQL queries to improve query performance and scalability.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams including data analysts, data engineers, and business users to gather requirements, present data models, and address data-related challenges.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
