Per Diem Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Per Diem Registered Nurse to join our team in the Emergency Department at UC San Diego Health. As a Per Diem RN, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide autonomous nursing care to a wide variety of patient populations, including emergency department patients.
- Identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results, exercising independent judgment within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
- Direct and act as a resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned.
- Promote compliance and support of policies, achieving trust in professional collegial relationships.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.
- BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
- PALS certification.
- Minimum two (2) years of Emergency Room RN experience (within the past three (3) years).
- Proven nursing clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results for Emergency Room patients.
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
- Must be able to work within a busy team environment.
- BSN.
- Relevant specialty certification (e.g. CEN, TNCC, etc.).
- Per diem shift requirement is an average of 1 shift per week per 4-week schedule. Must be available 1 weekend shift per 4-week schedule and a minimum of 1 holiday. This is subject to change based on individual department needs.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
- Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
The annual full pay range for this position is $170,485. The hourly equivalent is $81.65. Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
The hiring pay scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
