Per Diem Registered Nurse

We are seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse to join our team at the Surgical PCU at UC San Diego Health's Hillcrest Medical Center. As a Per Diem Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care and service in a unique unit that advocates for patient safety and satisfaction through transformational leadership, innovation, and empowerment of the professional nurse.
Responsibilities- Provide autonomous nursing care to patients in the Surgical PCU, assessing and providing nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge.
- Exercise independent judgment within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
- RN License issued by the State of California.
- BLS/CPR or BART and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent acute care RN experience at the PCU, IMU, or step-down level of care or higher acuity.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
- BSN.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
