Key Responsibilities- Interpreting and Entering Physician Orders: Accurately interpret and enter physician orders into our computer system to ensure timely and accurate medication administration.
- Medication Management: Fill medication orders, aseptically compound IV solutions and cytotoxic agents, and accurately set and check medication cassettes to prevent medication errors.
- Drug Therapy Monitoring: Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, incompatibilities, interactions, and dosing errors, including those indicative of specific age groups.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with medical and nursing personnel to ensure seamless care coordination and provide drug information as required.
- Inventory Management: Perform inventories of controlled substances as required by pharmacy procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement activities, including drug usage evaluation, monitoring suspected adverse drug reactions, and documenting technician filling errors and dispensing errors.
- Education and Licensure: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy and current licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of New Jersey or eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity.
- Skills and Abilities: Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical Demands: Ability to move heavy objects up to 20 lbs. in a timely manner and be exposed to potentially hazardous materials.
