Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Thompson Engineering in Knoxville, TN.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take on a challenging project management role. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with experience in project management, construction inspection, and testing. You will be expected to work independently, making decisions and taking ownership of your work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budgets.
  • Construction Inspection: Conduct regular site visits to inspect construction progress, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Ensure that all construction work meets quality and safety standards, conducting tests and inspections as necessary.
  • Client Communication: Liaise with clients to understand their needs and expectations, providing regular updates on project progress.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support as needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Tennessee.
  • A minimum of eight years of engineering experience, preferably in project management or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
