Job Title: Substation Design Project Manager
Job Summary:
Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Substation Design Project Manager to oversee the design of deliverables associated with substation physical/outdoor design projects. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing a small team of engineers, designers, and/or drafters who are responsible for the creation of substation engineering packages utilizing MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Inventor.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a small team of individual contributors (2-5 team members).
- Manage assigned Physical projects to meet schedule & budget while producing high quality design products.
- Provide detailed checking (QA/QC) of all engineering deliverables.
- Ensure that Mesa's quality assurance plan is implemented and followed on all projects to ensure a base level of quality is maintained.
- Perform occasional site visits as needed.
- Perform and oversee scoping of various proposed substation upgrades.
- Mentor all assigned direct reports.
- Coordinate design activities with other disciplines as required to establish a complete design package.
- Perform or check supporting calculations (Grounding, Lighting, AC/DC, and Lightning Protection).
- Assists project or program managers in estimating projects and developing scope of work for assigned projects.
- Evaluates work performance of personnel and provides feedback to direct supervision.
Requirements:
The selected candidate is expected to report to the Knoxville, TN office on a full time basis. Consideration will also be given to report to our Chattanooga, TN office with periodic travel to the Knoxville office. After the candidate has established a satisfactory work history, there will be an option for a hybrid in-office/remote work arrangement.
