As a Vehicle Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for executing designated tasks within the Properties Division.
Your primary duties will include the upkeep, repair, and development of training materials, as well as instructing personnel on the operation of all motorized vehicles and equipment utilized by Mohonk Mountain House/Smiley Brothers, Inc.
You will ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment, which encompasses storage areas, workshop spaces, and any designated work locations.The motorized vehicles and equipment you will handle include, but are not limited to, automobiles, trucks, trailers, tractors, construction machinery (such as dozers and loaders), snowmobiles, trail grooming machines, small power tools (like pumps and mowers), golf course machinery (including reel mowers and aerators), generators, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct repairs and maintenance on all vehicles and equipment used by Smiley Brothers, Inc. and Mohonk Mountain House.
• Perform monthly inspections and assessments of all motorized vehicles and equipment to identify repair or replacement needs.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of repair and troubleshooting techniques for gasoline, diesel, and battery-operated vehicles.
• Manage a comprehensive record-keeping system for vehicles and equipment, including parts inventory and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Assist in the procurement process for vehicles and equipment.
• Keep accurate records of licenses and safety inspections for over-the-road vehicles and equipment.
• Monitor supply levels, obtain quotes, and prepare purchase requests when inventory is low.
• Collaborate with other departments to conduct regular vehicle inspections.• Select, match, and fabricate necessary parts and materials for assigned projects.
• Carry out minor auto body repairs.
• Foster positive relationships with external vendors, including body shops, heavy equipment repair services, light and heavy truck shops, parts suppliers, and towing companies.
• Utilize computer systems to track vehicle and equipment service history, repairs, and overall condition.• Demonstrate a solid understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems on various equipment.
• Manage inventory control and ensure organization of all parts and materials used in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Communicate effectively regarding the status of completed and ongoing tasks on a daily basis.• Safely operate all types of power and hand tools.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and blueprints.
• Exhibit the ability to learn and implement new methods, materials, procedures, and systems.
• Drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles safely and legally.
• Assist with snow removal as required.
• Be available for on-call work during system shutdowns or repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
• Handle hazardous materials safely and in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Work safely in various conditions, including tight spaces and extreme temperatures for extended periods.• Prepare administrative reports clearly and logically.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Windows-based operating systems and software such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
• Exhibit strong organizational and proofreading skills, producing well-written, error-free documents.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with guests, visitors, and employees.
• Hear and follow verbal instructions and warnings.• Lift up to 75 pounds from ground level to a height of 3.5 feet and carry up to 100 feet with or without assistance.
• Walk up to 15 miles per day.• Reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, and flex arms, as well as climb ladders or stand for extended periods.
• Maintain good vision and color recognition for identifying visual indicators.• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of individuals.
• Work effectively under pressure while maintaining composure.
• Adapt to a flexible schedule to meet operational demands, including availability for short notice work and during inclement weather.
• Learn and apply the Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps and Service Strategies in interactions with guests and staff.• Acquire and retain knowledge of historical facts and information about Mohonk Mountain House.
• Present a neat, clean, and professional appearance to customers.
• Inspect the work of others for adherence to quality standards.
• Maintain a positive demeanor in challenging situations when interacting with customers and coworkers.
Qualifications:
• Valid Driver's License and a minimum age of 21, or 20 years with at least two years of licensed driving experience.
