About the Role
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer at Solvenow Inc., you will be responsible for creating comprehensive plans and specifications, conducting analyses, and generating reports on various projects related to the design and construction of new facilities, as well as the operation and maintenance of existing ones.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will involve addressing complex equipment and operational challenges, which may include conducting field investigations, performing design tasks, and meticulously reviewing design calculations performed by colleagues. You will also coordinate specific design elements within broader projects.
Responsibilities are diverse and intricate, often extending beyond your designated duties. You will apply advanced skills across multiple disciplines and resolve complex issues that affect business operations both within and outside your department. Your decisions will carry significant weight in policy and strategic matters.
Essential Functions
In this position, you will create and update engineering standards, policies, and guidelines, ensuring compliance with established procedures. You may also liaise with regulatory bodies and government agencies, serving as a resource for less experienced team members while directing the technical complexities of projects.
You will plan, prioritize, and lead assignments, acting as a project manager in the development and implementation of metrics, processes, and procedures. Additionally, you will engage with the public, developers, landowners, and interest groups regarding zoning, subdivision, and building projects, as well as engineering regulations and standards.
As part of your role, you will deliver technical presentations to elected officials, appointed boards, commissions, the public, and staff. Your core responsibilities will focus on operational and tactical aspects of the organization, with some involvement in strategic initiatives. You will guide junior engineers in project execution and may serve as a liaison with other departments and organizations.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering along with six years of relevant engineering experience, including at least four years as an engineer. A valid State Driver's License is required.
Professional Engineer Designation
For those at the Senior Engineer level, a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a PE designation is necessary, along with five years of related engineering experience, including at least three years as an engineer.
Working Conditions
This role may require travel and the ability to work non-standard schedules. You may encounter extreme conditions and inclement weather, and be required to work at heights exceeding thirty feet, as well as in confined spaces.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Exceptional communication skills (oral, written, and presentation) are essential, along with strong problem-solving abilities. You should be capable of leading and directing the work of others, managing multiple projects with shifting priorities, and working independently with minimal guidance. A deep understanding of various engineering initiatives is crucial, as is the ability to interface with diverse personalities and function effectively as a team player.
