Job Title: Real-World AI Software Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced software architect to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a real-world AI software architect, you will play a critical role in designing and developing pioneering AI systems for high-end sensors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop robust AI systems that integrate multiple information sources, pattern recognition algorithms, and reasoning engines.
  • Collaborate with a skilled team of engineers and scientists to plan and design systems that enable rapid information flow and analysis.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of AI systems, including design and implementation of security requirements.
  • Track progress and guide sub-teams to support system development, design, and goals.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code in C++, CMake, build servers, and Linux environments.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems programming (C++, C#, Java, etc.).
  • Strong information technology skills, including familiarity with system deployment and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with demonstrated success leading in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance and meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience working with systems programming languages.
  • 3+ years of experience architecting systems.
  • Experience with data science and machine learning programming.
  • Ability to work with government customers and hold an active Top Secret security clearance.
