Job Summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a highly skilled Tech Specialist 2 to join our team. As a Tech Specialist 2, you will be responsible for analyzing system performance, providing support to the system administration and engineering team, and troubleshooting systems and operating systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements to ensure optimal system functionality.
  • Provide technical support to the system administration and engineering team to resolve system-related issues.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of networking principles and system administration skills to troubleshoot systems and operating systems.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, manufacturers, vendors, and system administrators to resolve system-related issues.
  • Train system users and other system support personnel on system operation and maintenance.
  • Analyze and modify preventive maintenance checklists for system changes to ensure system reliability.
  • Troubleshoot system performance issues and implement corrective actions to ensure system uptime.
  • Organize and prepare detailed documentation of system performance, including service request records and analysis.
  • Perform desktop hardware and operating system setup, imaging software loading, and antivirus updates to ensure system security.
  • Conduct in-depth research and evaluate the research of Technical Specialists to evaluate existing and future systems.
  • Provide on-site system support post-deployment to ensure system functionality.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure system design accuracy.
  • Understand SOP and SOW documentation to ensure system compliance.
  • Ensure test lab equipment is maintained to ensure system testing accuracy.
  • Interface with the engineering team to ensure design efficiency.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Conduct research and development of entire systems and analyze all interoperability and constructability scenarios.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and statements of work (SOW) to ensure system design accuracy.
  • Coordinate with field personnel and/or engineering team to discuss any potential installation issues.
  • Answer support calls to help field personnel and system administrators with any installation issues encountered on the job site.
  • Conduct research and development on new system manufacturers, intrusion detection, and closed-circuit television systems.
  • Perform all duties with minimal direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Requires 8+ years of experience with installation, troubleshooting, and/or testing of electronic security systems with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Or Associates with 6+ years of experience.
  • Requires substantial travel to project sites as required by customer and program manager to meet project deliverables.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tools.

Qualifications/Preferred Experience

  • Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security systems and applications like CCURE (Software House), Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, HID, Axis, 2N, Geutebruck, and/or other.
  • Working knowledge and/or certification for general-purpose operating systems and virtualization platforms (Windows, Windows Server, Linux, VMware, CentOS, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Familiarity with physical security designs, standard operation procedures, and security operations.
  • Working knowledge and/or certification with communications and network protocols and services including TCP/IP, RS232, RS485, networking knowledge (TCP, UDP, RTP, RTSP, and others).
  • Certification in Lenel OnGuard and Bosch Video Management System preferred.
  • Access Control certification CCURE 9000 Access Control System, Lenel, or others.
  • Certification in DVTel/Flir Digital Video Systems, Genetec, Milestone VMS, Axis, or others.
  • Experience and knowledge of networks, network equipment, and administration.
  • Experience and knowledge of virtualization and cloud environments.
  • CCNA, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ certifications or similar.
  • Experience and skills in electronic security systems, databases, networking, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Possess excellent organizational and file management skills and the ability to plan and execute administrative work with little supervision.
