Clinical Nurse Specialist

The role of a Clinical Nurse Specialist encompasses the execution of nursing practices that require significant specialized expertise, critical thinking, and nursing proficiency grounded in the principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Conducting thorough observations, assessments, nursing diagnoses, care planning, interventions, and evaluations.
  • Providing health education and counseling to patients who are ill, injured, or have chronic conditions, while promoting wellness, health maintenance, and illness prevention.
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed or authorized by licensed healthcare practitioners.

  • Overseeing and educating other healthcare personnel in the theoretical and practical aspects of nursing care.

  • A nurse is obligated to deliver competent care to patients, which involves clarifying responsibilities with management and assessing their own competencies and capabilities. Delivering proficient nursing care also entails exercising informed judgment and decision-making.


The professional nurse collaborates and communicates with staff, physicians, and patients to enhance programs aimed at reducing Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs) and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs).

Utilizes the Situation, Background, Assessment & Recommendation (SBAR) framework for effective handoff communication within the department and across other departments, ensuring patient and family involvement during bedside shift reports.

Engages in critical thinking and escalates concerns as necessary to address patient needs safely and promptly, operating within the RN scope of practice.

Prepares medical equipment and assists physicians during patient examinations and treatments.
May be required to extend working hours or provide care in different units as directed by the nursing supervisor.



Education:

Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma is required.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Strong oral and written communication skills in English are essential. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Experience:
A minimum of 12 months of experience is preferred but not mandatory; basic computer skills and excellent interpersonal and communication abilities are necessary.

Required Certification/Registration:
Valid RN license in Florida; BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
