Position Summary:

The Senior Rehabilitation Therapy Technician engages in advanced rehabilitative therapy activities. This role includes assisting in the formulation, execution, and management of tailored rehabilitation programs. The technician will also mentor and guide junior staff and participate in the training of new rehabilitation personnel. This position operates under general supervision, allowing for considerable initiative and independent decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:

- Regular attendance and adherence to a specified shift schedule, which may include rotating shifts or overtime as required by agency policies.

- Ensure high-quality rehabilitation services are delivered daily, facilitating successful community reintegration for patients. This includes collaborating with the Director and Assistant Director of Rehabilitation in screening, interviewing, and onboarding new staff.

- Lead therapeutic activities that promote engagement, such as interactive games, fitness sessions, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises.

- Instruct patients in essential life skills, including self-care, independent living, and character development, covering topics such as ethics, decision-making, and personal responsibility.

- Maintain relationships with educational institutions and community resources to organize guest speakers and college visits for clients.

- Conduct thorough observations of patient behavior and participation levels, documenting progress accurately.

- Develop and implement workshops addressing the specific needs of the patient population.

- Assist in training new rehabilitation staff and provide ongoing support as needed.

- Operate agency vehicles for patient transport, ensuring safety and compliance with agency policies.

- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to special projects and initiatives.

- Ensure that all therapeutic facilities are maintained in a clean and safe condition.

- Engage in continuous curriculum development and obtain necessary approvals for programming.

- Document updates to treatment plans and collaborate with treatment teams to establish patient goals.

- Maintain communication with facility operations to address any maintenance needs.


Qualifications:

- Comprehensive knowledge of rehabilitation methods and mental health practices.

- Familiarity with relevant regulations and policies.

- Proficiency in utilizing computer systems and therapeutic equipment.

- Strong observational and documentation skills.

- Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.

- Capability to instruct and mentor others effectively.
