Position Summary:
The Senior Rehabilitation Therapy Technician engages in advanced rehabilitative therapy activities. This role includes assisting in the formulation, execution, and management of structured rehabilitative therapy programs. You will also provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members and assist in the training of new rehabilitation personnel. This position operates under general supervision, allowing for independent decision-making and initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular attendance and may be required to work specific or rotating shifts, including extended hours as per agency policy.
- Ensure high-quality rehabilitation services are delivered to patients daily, supporting their successful reintegration into the community.
- Assist the Rehabilitation Director and Assistant Director in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of qualified Rehabilitation Technicians.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities, including interactive games, fitness sessions, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises.
- Provide instruction in self-care and independent living skills, covering topics such as decision-making, financial management, and personal hygiene.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local educational institutions and community resources to enhance patient programming.
- Document patient behavior and participation levels accurately, contributing to ongoing treatment assessments.
- Identify patient needs through observation and implement appropriate therapeutic activities.
- Support the training of Rehabilitation Therapy Technicians, offering guidance and oversight as necessary.
- Ensure safe transportation of patients as assigned, including vehicle checks and compliance with agency policies.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to special projects and initiatives.
- Oversee the maintenance and inventory of therapeutic equipment and supplies.
- Research and develop new programming initiatives, ensuring lesson plans are submitted for approval.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in all therapeutic facilities and equipment.
Additional duties may include participation in agency disaster response efforts and other assignments as required.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:
- Knowledge of rehabilitation methods and services, as well as mental health considerations.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and therapeutic equipment.
- Strong observational skills to assess patient engagement and progress.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to instruct and mentor others in a supportive manner.
