Speech Language Pathologist Feeding Specialist

Special Kids, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist Feeding to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist Feeding, you will work with children from birth to age 21 with a variety of diagnoses and developmental delays, providing speech and language therapy services and feeding therapy services as needed.
Responsibilities:- Diagnose and evaluate speech and language skills and provide treatment to children with communication disorders, dysphagia, and developmental delays.
- Recognize dysphagia and make decisions about its management in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Educate at-risk individuals and their families about swallowing and feeding disorders.
- Stay up-to-date on recent advances in dysphagia and help advance knowledge as it relates to the nature and treatment of dysphagia and feeding difficulties.
- Program and provide instruction on the use of AAC devices as applicable.
- Coordinate participation in multi-sensory, educational, functional, and social activities designed to help patients develop or regain abilities/function or adapt to disabilities.
- Select constructive activities suited to the patient's physical capacity, comprehension level, and interest to upgrade the individual to maximum independence.
- Prepare patients for school and/or daily living, assisting in the restoration of functions, and aiding in necessary adjustments to lifestyle.
- Instruct patients and families in treatment procedures for best carryover in multiple environments.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient reports and documentation in electronic medical records.
- Review individual files to obtain background information prior to evaluations to determine appropriate tests to administer and to ensure that all necessary information is collected.
- Administer, score, and interpret evaluation reports in order to develop and modify an individualized treatment plan.
- Review treatment plans, and assess individual performance to modify, change, or write new goals; observe patients during treatments and compile and evaluate data on patients' responses to treatments and progress.
- Consistently maintain high patient care productivity.
- Maintain an awareness of the patient attendance policy, enforcing it impartially and consistently at all times.
- Act as a consultant to educational, medical, and other professional groups as well as fellow staff members.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to incorporate speech and language goals into daily activities.
- Research and implement new speech therapy techniques.
- Refer patients for other services, whether internal or external, as warranted and appropriate.
- Attend meetings and conferences and participate in other activities to promote professional growth.
- A minimum of a master's degree in Communication Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology with related experience and/or training in feeding.
- Active and unencumbered Tennessee State SLP license required; Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA required; American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Providers (BLS Pro) certification with skills testing required; membership in ASHA recommended; HIPAA certification encouraged.
