Role Summary

The Client Relations Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the shelter environment, ensuring the safety and respect of all clients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

The Client Relations Specialist is a service-oriented position at The Salvation Army Bell Shelter, which provides residential support and services for single adults facing homelessness. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all clients are aware of and adhere to facility regulations, providing explanations as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate written records as required.
  • Monitoring and assisting in the upkeep of the facility, including restrooms.
  • Handling incoming phone calls and directing them appropriately in a timely and professional manner.
  • Welcoming and guiding visitors to the right individuals.
  • Providing essential information about the facility and its programs when necessary.
  • Preparing written reports for incidents using logs and incident report forms.
  • Maintaining a secure environment both inside and outside the facility.
  • Conducting thorough rounds throughout each assigned shift.
  • Monitoring client medication and overseeing social activities.
  • Performing all duties with courtesy, professionalism, and respect.

Compensation: $18.00-$20.00/hr.

Work Environment

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously. Capable of grasping, pushing, and pulling objects such as files and drawers, as well as reaching overhead. Proficient in operating a computer, fax machine, and telephone. Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma with at least one year of work experience.
  2. If in recovery, a minimum sobriety period of two (2) years is required.
  3. Experience in mental health and/or addiction fields is preferred.
  4. Understanding and support of The Salvation Army's mission.
  5. Basic literacy skills are essential.
  6. CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 14 days of starting.
  7. Must be TB-cleared prior to employment.

  1. Ability to exercise sound judgment while working independently.
  2. Effective time management skills.
  3. Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  4. High ethical standards and understanding of confidentiality protocols.
  5. Proficient in answering phones, greeting visitors, and interacting with clients and staff in a respectful manner.
  6. Ability to effectively utilize office equipment such as fax machines and copiers.
  7. Willingness to work any assigned shift or schedule.
