Job Title: Field Service Technician

Ziegler CAT is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Technician to join our team. As a key member of our electrical services business, you will be responsible for providing top-notch service to our customers, ensuring their electrical power distribution and control equipment is running smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and repair electric power generation equipment, including gas and diesel powered generators, electrical transfer switches, electrical switchgear, circuit breakers, and other related equipment.
  • Respond to customer needs in a timely and professional manner, providing excellent customer service and ensuring maximum value for work performed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all safety procedures and ensuring the service vehicle is properly maintained.
  • Interact positively with manager and team members to satisfy customer needs and provide assistance to other technicians as needed.
  • Communicate job status with supervisor and submit detailed service reports explaining work completed and documenting any deficiencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
  • 2-year technical degree or high school diploma and several years of comparable electrical services experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in troubleshooting and repair of electrical gear and generators.
  • Knowledge of electricity and electronics, engine diagnostics, and failure analysis.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment without supervision and read, follow, understand, and communicate schematics.
  • Personal characteristics: desire to provide outstanding customer service, strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment and operate equipment safely.
  • Class A CDL or willingness to obtain one within a defined period of time.
  • DOT medical certification card and pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Minimum Physical Requirements:
  • Push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Lift bulky objects.
  • Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping.
